Performance Opportunities
Long's Performing Arts Team LLC
![]() Approximately 60 members of the student body, chosen by audition, comprise Long's Performing Arts Team LLC. This team performs Acrobatic Adagio, which is a type of dance with technically difficult partnering dance movements. However, performances also incorporate all styles of dance, singing and acting. Long's Performing Arts Team LLC is an International Gold Medal winner. The team competed in the Hawaii International Dance Festival in 2000 and brought home the Gold. The competition was challenging...our students competed against 80 other dance teams from Malasysia, Japan, Austria and the United States. Congratulations go out to the team, teachers and parents that made it possible. In 2002, Long's Performing Arts Team LLC was invited back to Walt Disney World for an encore performance (originally performed in 1997). This time, the team had the opportunity to perform in the 100 Year "Magical Music Days" Celebration. In 2005, Long's Performing Arts Team LLC returned to Disney World for another "Magical Music Days" performance in Epcot Center. Praise and congratulations to the team for their excellent performance and also to all those who helped make this experience a memorable one. Long's Annual Dance Concert
![]() Each year, on the second weekend in June, Long's students return to the historical Warner Theatre in Erie, Pennsylvania and present the Annual Dance Concert. Every year, this event is sold out both nights. This 2 1/2 hour performance is truly a professional show with a live orchestra and vocalists, elaborate costumes, cutting-edge lighting, special effects, back drops and set designs as well as the latest music and choreography. ![]() During the performance, Long's dancers have the opportunity to display their dance talents for parents and friends in artistic routines learned over the course of the year, while gaining valuable performance experience. Concert performers range in age from 3 to 50+ and execute choreography, varying in style from high energy hip hop to poised and graceful classics. Long's truly focuses on showcasing each dancer and giving them their deserved time in the spot light. ![]() The recital ends with the Grand Finale, performed by the 60 Members of Long's Performing Arts Team LLC, which is a team of Long's top students, chosen by audition. Choreographed by Long's President, Jay Long, the finale varies in theatrical theme from one year to the next and encompasses a variety of entertaining elements including all styles of dance, as well as challenging acrobatic and support adagio movement and aerial arts and flying. This type of performance allows younger students to see some of the more advanced dancers and perhaps foster a desire to reach this level of dance in their continued training at Long's School of Dance. Long's Annual Holiday Dinner Dance
Long's hosts a holiday dinner dance each year in December. The evening includes a buffet dinner, D.J. music & dancing and a special holiday performance by Long's dancers. Tickets for this show will be available beginning in November and can be purchased at the Selinger Avenue location or from any of Long's faculty. Seating is reserved so get your tickets early! Hope to See You There! Giving Back to the Community
Long's feels that it is important to have a presence in the Erie Community and gives back to many of the local, charitable organizations. Long's believes in helping the community and giving back to those less fortunate than us. All proceeds from our Holiday Dinner Dance will go toward the crippled children of the Shriner's Hospital. Long's students will be dancing for those who cannot. Long's is also very involved in the Girl Scouts Organization by offering dance classes tailored to Girl Scouts so that they can earn their "Dance Badge". Long's students have participated in summer festivals and events around Erie, area parades, as well as doing exhibitions and performances at schools. During the summer of 2003, Long's traveled to numerous Erie events and performed with the Dixie Doodlers Orchestra. Long's dancers performed a variety of patriotic selections. Each year, all students who participate in Long's Summer Dance Intensive perform for area seniors to enjoy. In 2008, performances were held at Sarah Reed Retirement Center, Spring Hill Senior Living Community and Forest View Skilled Nursing Facility. Congratulations and thank you to the performers, teachers and all those who helped planning this event. If you would like to have Long's dancers perform at your community event, contact the main office. |
